Clay Krebs leads CWK Architects, a Fort Lauderdale studio dedicated to custom residential architecture throughout South Florida, the Florida Keys and the Gulf Coast.

Clay’s career began on the structural side of the building industry. Over more than 25 years he has developed a builder’s understanding of how homes come together — load paths, wind and flood design, and the details that let a modern waterfront home perform in a coastal climate.

That foundation shapes every CWK project. Ambitious forms, expansive glass and open, indoor–outdoor plans are designed from day one to be engineered, permitted and built — so the home you approve on paper is the home you move into.

Clay graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2012 and is a licensed architect in the State of Florida. Clients work with him directly, from the first site visit through construction.

Our Approach

What guides every project

  1. Structure first

We resolve how a design stands up while it is still a sketch, so bold ideas survive engineering, permitting and budget.

  2. Light, water & view

Plans are organized around orientation, breezes and the water — bringing the outdoors in without sacrificing comfort.

  3. Built for the coast

Hurricane, flood and salt-air realities are design inputs, not afterthoughts, so homes stay beautiful for decades.

  4. Personal attention

A principal-led studio: you work directly with Clay, and your project never gets handed down the hall.

  5. Built alongside the builder

Drawn by someone who speaks the contractor’s language, often for builders we have partnered with again and again — so drawings arrive clear, questions get answered fast and fewer surprises reach your budget.
